I left Rennes and made the journey to Nantes via bike paths next to canals. The route wasn't exactly direct but it provided safe and gradual uphill cycling for 3 days.
It was good for the legs but after looking at a canals and trees for 3 days it was good to get to Nantes and have a look around.
The Nike store was well equipped not that I needed any football boots
I didn't need any cat food either but had to laugh at how they got the cat to stick out its tongue.
Nantes was nice. It had a good tram system, castle, cathedral and a very tall building.
I checked out the tourist office and found a map for the length of the Loire a Velo and set off the next day.
The track basically follows the Loire river past various Chateaux and through towns and country side. Its just slightly uphill and could be compaired to the Rail trail in Otago.
At this time I was just focusing on getting from one point on the map to another and I forgot about the camera so I didnt get many photos.
I did stop for a day to visit Chambord
Eventaully I arrived in Orleans and stayed the night. I was leaving the city when I came across this sign.
After sitting on the side of the road for half an hour I decided to go back to the campsite and stay for the weekend. It was an excellent decision as I got to check out Orleans, watch Jazz, drink beer and sit in the sunshine.
After the concerts have finished the streets filled with people and bands walked the streets until the early hours. It was a fantastic weekend.
